The Lyric Theater was the first of three movie theaters to be opened in Van Alstyne. Opened by a Mr. B.Legg of Denison in August 1925 it was housed in a building that later became home to Veazey Hardware. W.R. Holcomb was one of the first managers of the Lyric which met its end in the early-1930’s.

The Lyric Theater in Van Alstyne, Texas is listed in the 1934 Film Daily Yearbook with 525 seats. Not listed in the 1935 edition.
