I actually worked at the Bush River Cinemas 8, starting in May of 1987. I worked for GCC until November of 1997.

i don’t recall Dutch Square as a GCC,at least not when I worked for GCC in the early Eighties.I thought it was an Irwin-Fuller location.

This was a hot location for “ROCKY HORROR” in Columbia.

I remember driving over to BUSH RIVER from Augusta about 70 miles away one time to pick -up drink cups.Somehow our cup order got screwed up and i was voted to go get some cups. It seemed like a joke of a mall. I did get a free Chinese dinner up by Dutch Square.

Opened as a quad in 1977 and closed with 8 screens in 1998 according to the News Library. It was always an General Cinemas. The Dutch Square 14 is now a AMC.

General Cinema Theatres also owned and operated two other theatres in the greater Columbia area:
GCC Columbian Mall
GCC Dutch Square Mall

This theatre was located in the Bush River Mall on Bush River Road and I-26. The entire mall is closed and the future site of a super Wal-Mart.
