Monte Vista Theatre

Operating since at least 1928, this was your classic neighborhood theatre in the Pleasant Ridge neighborhood. It played films after exclusive runs in the downtown theatres, a little bit of everything from Bond to Disney.

It began its decline in the late-1960’s, and by then was featuring double bills and the occasional X-rated film. Sometime in 1971 or 1972 it switched to showing X-rated films, but neighborhood protests ended that policy. Soon after it closed and was demolished to became a parking lot.

This theater was operating at least since 1927. A Kilgen 2/4 Organ was installed in the Monte Vista Theatre in 1927.
