The Rietta Drive-In was a small town operation with only a 200 car capacity, but the screen was of good size. In appearance this was a rather plain facility.
Outdoor theatres cannot operate until after dark and at this cinema vast quantities of flashing lightning bugs were a distraction to patrons trying to watch a movie.
Whether fire flies caused an early demise of this drive-in is no longer known, but this facility shuttered before the mid-1960’s.
You comments on the Rietta will be welcome here. (Henryetta was home town to famed actress Alice Ghostley)
