Have been told that the Carlton Drive-In was a rather nice outdoor theatre, with pretty landscaping. It held a 400 car capacity. Other than that could not locate any other historical facts.

Opened as Sky Vu Drive-In on Saturday,Aug 19, 1950. Name was changed in March 1959 to Carlton Drive-In.
1965 IMPA lists owner as L.D. Lankister
1979 IMPA, lists capacity as 400. Owned by C. Weaver
Drive-In was located on US-270 east of McAlester, midway between Krebs and Alderson. Driving east on US-270, the drive-in would have been on the right side of the hwy.
The footprint of the drive-in is clearly visible on Google Earth using 2004 or earlier imagery.

Made a mistake on the above post. There were two drive-ins east of McAlester on US-270. The Highway 270 Drive-In was furthest to the east, and is the drive-in noted in the topo map from the above post. The Highway 270 advertised its location as “2 Miles East of city limits on Highway 270,” which would have made it further east than the Carlton Drive-In, which was closer to the city limits.
