There is also a photo on the other Panorama page showing it was the Panorama Theatre.
When you look at the streeet view of the theatre located at 9110 you can clearly see that at one time it was a single screen theatre. There is still a Theatre sign above the entrance. I would gamble that that was the Panorama Theatre and not this building listed at 8600 Van Nuys.
I’m from Panorama City ‘60-'96, and there was never a second Panorama Theatre, as far as I know. My Fair Lady was at the Panorama Theatre from the other site—I saw the movie there. Loewe’s was put in front of the name for a time and they may have been the sponsors of the film/theatre. I’ve always known the Americana under that name; if it ever were named Loewe’s Panorama Theatre, it eluded me as a big film fan.
Del Sol Furnture is listed at this address now.
Building looks like it might still be standing.
What no photos?
I think this was the single screen Panorama Theatre. The Panorama Theatre was subleased to afew operators during 1960’s to 1970. During the mid 60’s Loew’s operated screens on the West Coast till it sold them to GCC in the early 70’s. “My Fair Lady” could not have played this theatre till after around March 1966. “My Fair Lady” started it’s Roadshow Engagement at the Egyptian Theatre on Oct. 29th. 1964 and played only this theatre till Feb/Mar 1966 for a total of 68 weeks. “My Fair Lady” was also reissued on Jan. 22 1971.
I was thinking the same thing. What are the odds that there were two Panorama Theaters on Van Nuys Boulevard operating around the same time? The other theater is listed here.
Or was it the Panorama Theater that was in Panorama City that is already also listed here on CT that was at 9110 Van Nuys Boulevard?
