The Cinema Center was opened in 1967 with a single screen theater that seated 650 people and featured a 60 foot screen.
In later years, seven other auditoriums were added around the theater’s original screen.
After Omaha’s Indian Hills Theatre closed, the original screen of the Cinema Center became the largest screen in Omaha, Nebraska. Operated by Douglas Theatres as a first run theatre, in January 2009, the Cinema Center closed, to be turned into offices.

The Cinema Center theater has hosted 4 of my 10 film tributes here in Omaha Ne. PSYCHO with actress Janet Leigh attending was the first event I held there in 1994.Miss Leighs'daughter Kelly Curtis, saw PSYCHO for the first time at this event! GONE WITH THE WIND with actress Ann Rutherford (Careen O'Hara in the film) and a contingent of Civil War re enactors was the second event held there. MR.SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON, with Producer Frank Capra Jr. attending, was a salute to legendary director Frank Capra. PATTON was attended by the grandson of Gen.Patton, and was the first time the family had ever attended an event for that film! Go to my web site www.omahafilmevent.com to see photos from these and other events I have produced in Omaha Ne. that have attained international attention.
