Putney Bridge Kinema

Located on Putney Bridge Approach at the south corner of Gonville Street in Fulham, southwest London. The Putney Bridge Cinematograph Theatre was opened on 23rd November 1911. It was re-named Putney Bridge Kinema in 1915.

It was taken over by Town Theatres, and was closed in January 1940 for major alterations to be carried out. However due to the recent commencement of World War II, this never happened. Town Theatres were taken over by Oscar Deutsch’s Odeon Theatres Ltd. chain, and the still closed Putney Bridge Kinema became part of the Odeon chain from 26th January 1942. However, it remained closed, and never re-opened.

The Putney Bridge Kinema was demolished in 1957/1958 and a Premier Travel Inn hotel now stands on the site.
