This will be corrected. It opened as the Trans-Lux Inflight Cinema on June 12,1970 with Jason Robards and Stella Stevens in THE BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE under Brandt Theatres with a seating capacity of 567. By 1976,it was became known as the notorious CINEMA BLUE adult theatre off High Point Road.

Carprog: This was the Trans-Lux In-Flight Cinema off High Point and Holden Roads that opened in 1970 under Brandt Theatres. I do have the ads for the date that this theatre opened. This will be corrected.

FYI: Trans-Lux/Brandt Theatres opened between 1969 and 1970 cinemas in Charlotte, Greensboro, High Point, Burlington, and Winston-Salem.

Charlotte by the way had a Trans-Lux In-Flight Twin Theatres off Eastway Drive near Independence Blvd.

FYI: There were NO Trans-Lux Theatres in the greater Raleigh-Durham area NOR were there any in either Fayetteville, Asheville, or Wilmington.

Wasn’t this the Trans-Lux In-Flight Theater located on corner of High Point Rd. & Holden Rd. in a shopping center?
