Movie Age of December 7, 1929, said that Publix had acquired the American Amusement Company’s theaters in Mankato, and now controlled all four of the town’s houses; the Grand, the State, the Lyric, and the Orpheum.

Plitt Theatres apparently did not control the State until its end, though. A 1978 Boxoffice item about the opening of the Mall 4 Cinemas by Carisch Theatres said that Carisch had closed the downtown State and Town theaters May 3, after opening the new quad. Carisch had acquired the Town in 1973, but I’ve been unable to discover when they acquired the State.
