Electric Palace

Originally built as a Town Hall, the Electric Picture Playhouse was opened around May 1912. As well as films, it also offered variety performances on its stage.

Later known as the Electric Palace, it was closed in 1927, when the new purpose-built Picture House opened in the town.

Today, only the lower part of the facade remains, with retail use in 2008 by The Shoe Box and Hob Saloon (hairdresser’s). Offices have been built on the site of the auditorium
