An OS map from 1962 has the cinema marked as “Paris Cinema (Disused)” so it definitely seems to have been renamed at some point. I guess it must have closed down shortly after the above photo was taken.

I have seen a photo of the Cinema still open in late 1961 (possibly 12th November – Armistace Day parade in photo), showing “The Young Doctors” starring Ben Gazzara which was released that year. It is clearly signed up as the Empire (not Paris).

The cinema finally closed in 1959 and was managed by Middlesex Cinemas. One source says its final name was the Paris.
