Pavillion

The venue was erected in 1877 and at the time of building was the largest public hall in Wales, with a seating capacity for 8,000. It was leased by Will Ondra(real name Hugh Rain) the former film maker and cinema entrepreneur who ran a number of hall venues in Lancashire.
Ondra ran films at the venue from around 1901 to 1912 when they were discontinued. Negro spiritual singer & film star Paul Robeson gave a concert at the Pavillion in September 1934. The venue was used for the 1935 National Eisteddfod, the seventh time the event had been held there. Former Prime Minister, David Lloyd George gave a number of speeches here.

The Pavillion was requisitioned by the Government as a store in 1939, and they leased the building until 1956. By then it was in a bad state of repair, and was slated for demolition. A final concert was held in the building on 21st October 1961.

The Pavillion was demolished in 1962, and the site is now occupied by Offices for Carnarfon Borough Council.
