Located in the south-east Melbourne district of Oakleigh. This Spanish Colonial style building was built as the Ramona Ballroom in the 1920’s. It has red tiled roofs along the top of the facade, and a tower which also has a red tiled roof.
In 1930, it was converted into the 1,000 seat, Plaza Theatre. Always independently operated, it closed as a cinema in 1960-1961, when the seating capacity had been reduced to 876.
In 2010, the auditorium has been converted into apartments, and the foyer is in retail use.

The Plaza ended its days as an Italian language cinema.
