Model Theatre

This small movie house was opened in 1914 in the Englewood neighborhood, at the corner of 69th Street and Green Street. It was also known as Bill’s Model Theatre for a time. The Model Theatre did not make the transition to sound films, closing in 1927. The former theater has been home for years to the Unity Church of God in Christ.

Glad they didn’t alter the top half of the building. Too bad the bottom half lost all their original doors. Is the neighborhood that dangerous that the entrance looks so uninvitng?
