Almost thirty years ago when I worked in Americus, I remember seeing a closed drive-in on the Plains Highway across from the Rib and Loin restaurant. The drive-in was already closed but the marquee and the area was still standing.

Jesse, I looked up in my 1956 MOTION PICTURE ALMANAC and could find no STARLIGHT DRIVE -IN,so it must have opened in the later 50’s or 60’s.
It did have a SUNSET DRIVE -In that parked 290 cars ans was a Martin THeatre. Wonder if it was a name change. Drive-ins seem to change their names often, compared to walk-ins.
You are probably correct. Like I said, it has been almost 30 years since I have seen the drive-in. I don’t remember Sunset, I am sure it was Starlight. Anyway it is probably long gone by now.

The above address maps to a drive-in located on Plains Hwy, southwest of Americus. The drive-in is visible on Google Earth using historic aerial imagery.
Above address is incorrect. Approx. address for this drive-in was 125 U.S. 280 West.
