This theater opened in 1914 in the Pilsen neighborhood, on 22nd Street (today Cermak Road) near Robey Street (now Damen Avenue). It closed three years later.
The theater was reopened in 1923 and operated until 1927. Today the building houses a beauty salon on the ground floor and apartments on the second floor.

The building is on the south side of Cermak and the third building east of Hoyne and is tagged “Clara’s Beauty Salon”.
The address 2055 W Cermak leads to ½ block north of Cermak and 2 miles west of the theater it puts it on Drake Avenue which Google also has named west Cermak even though it runs north and south??? This new address is the only way I could get close to the Robey Theater!
Bob, the address is correct, it was 2055 W. 22nd Street (now Cermak Road) as it’s listed in the Chicago Tribune movie listings for several years. It’s actually Google Maps that is messed up. I’ve noticed a lot lately even when you put in the correct, exact address it’ll map the location to a completely different street, even when Google Maps has the correct street photographed.
Bryan, no question about it you have the right address, and Google is the one that is messed up. To quote THE MUSIC MAN “but you gotta know the territory”. I’ve been down 22nd often, so I was trying to help others not familiar with the territory find the theater, because they sure couldn’t find it by the Google Map.
In all fairness to Google, I guess with all the world they cover it’s a miracle that anyone can find as much as they can on their maps!
