I have looked all through my 1956 Almanac and can’t find this theatre, must have closed before 1956?

From the 1930s a photo of the SapphireTheatre featuring “The Crusaders” which was also released as “Jerusalem Delivered”.

Sorry Don Lewis, but this theatre was never in Knoxville, TN. I didn’t think it was here, but now that I have gone through newspaper and city directory records, I can confidently say that it was never in Knoxville, TN. Could it possibly have been located in a different Knoxville?

A quick check on imdb.com gives “The Crusaders: Jerusalem Delivered” as the title used in the United States for the 1911 Italian film “Gerusalemme liberata.” I agree with Tim, the Sapphire Theatre was not in Knoxville, and certainly not on Gay Street in 1911.
