The Strand Theater was in operation prior to 1930. It was located on the east side of Liberty Street near Benkard Avenue and may have remained open until 1940 when it was closed for at least a couple of years. It had re-opened by 1950.

I believe the structure still stands, but its function as a film theater ended many years ago. Photos of the building as it was, and as it is today, would be a great addition to this website.

I’m also looking for an even earlier theater called, maybe, the STAR, which operated on Colden Street in Newburgh before the 1930’s.

Bob, the only STAR I could find and it was in 1915 was 16-20 Lander Street.

About the Stand anyone “got info?” “got photos?”
