The M and T Drive-In was located in the South Georgia city of Baxley. A town I have been through, but never noticed a drive-in or remains of a drive-in. It was a Martin & Thompson Theatre like so many screens in the Southeast, especially in Alabama and Georgia.

The M and T Drive-In parked 280 cars, about the right size for a town the size of Baxley. It was still running movies in the late-1950’s.

Looks like a drive-in from above.

Open 1955-1969?

Open for sure in 1967.

Anyone have the full address for the top, more info, or photos?

Street View shows the building in the place of the old drive in is Captain Joe’s Seafood 2115 Golden Isle E. Mapping is off by quite a ways however with that address.

Golden Isles Hwy E & Industrial Park Dr, Baxley, GA 31513

The above address will map to the location of the drive-in, which was less than a quarter mile west of the intersection. The drive-in is visible on Google Earth using present day imagery.

I grew up near Baxley and remember watching Superman III there with my mom and cousin (in 1983 apparently, given the release date). I was only 5 or 6 at the time. The screen is no longer there, but the old projection booth and concession stand are behind Captain Joe’s restaurant, which is built on the site of the drive-in. I’m not sure when it closed, but it must have been shortly after I was there, because it’s the only move I ever remember seeing there before it was gone.
