the aerial view posted on drive-ins.com posted above is of Chamblee Plaza, the Peachtree Drive in was located further north on Peachtree and on the right side of the road.

Link to the Drive In ladder ad in the Atlanta paper on August 5, 1964. The blogger has also written up some of his memories of working at these places. Worth a look if you are interested in the drive in culture from 1970 – 1990.

PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

5601 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BOULEVARD

Open 1950-1969?

Open for sure in 1967.

Held 505 cars, 325 in winter (heaters?)

Owner 1961-1967? was Storey Theaters, Inc. of Atlanta. Frederick G. Storey President and Gen. Mgr. He had 16 theaters in Georgia.

In 1950 the drive-in had a “Choo-Choo Train” for the kids to ride on.

Later it had an “ULTRA-WIDEVISION SCREEN”!

Anyone have more info or photos?
