Viewing: Photo | Street View

The Pyramid Drive-In opened on July 28, 1950. It featured an unusual stainless steel pyramid, which assisted in supporting the rear of the screen. The theatre could hold 600 cars, and there were 250 chairs for walk-in patrons. The play area in front of the screen was decorated with cartoon charactor murals.

The old Pyramid was located on Port Arthur Road. Demolished and the grounds are now part of a football stadium.

PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:

4545 SOUTH M L KING JR PARKWAY

I THINK Port Authur Road has been changed to Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. If you go to the Google Map you will see the Red Dot is at the site of Lamar University’s Cardinal Stadium, the site of the Drive-In.

Open ~1955 approximate?

Inde-Ex Booking Service (Agent) of Dallas, Tex, B. F. White, Owner, had 23 theaters in Texas and New Mexico in 1967.

Not open for sure in 1967.

Anyone have more info or photos? I would love to see what the unusual stainless steel pyrmaid looked like.
