The Shaftesbury Cinema Theatre was located on Stockport Road, almost opposite the Kings Cinema (formerly Kings Theatre & Opera House). The opening date is not known. By 1937, it had been taken over by the H.D.M. Circuit operated by Harry D. Moorhouse. By 1944, it was independently operated.
The Shaftesbury Cinema Theatre was closed on 27th May 1961 with Howard Keel in "The Big Fisherman". It was later demolished and shops were built on the site.
