Claremont Super Cinema

Located on the corner of Claremont Road and Upper Lord Street, in the Greenhays district of Moss Side, an inner city suburb to the south of Manchester. The Claremont Super Cinema was opened on 1st February 1923. It was an imposing building with a corner entrance. It was taken over by the Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain on 29th January 1929.

ABC closed the Claremont Super Cinema on 8th February 1958 with Peter Finch in “Robbery Under Arms”. It stood empty and unused for many years, eventually being demolished in 1974. Housing has been built on the site.
