Corral Drive-In

The Corral Drive-In opened in 1950 with a 450 car capacity. It was owned by 4th Avenue Amusement Co. until 1971 when United Artists Theatres took over. The Drive-In closed in 1985.

It was at roughly 9496 US 40. You can see the faint remains of some of the ramps in the back of the lot.

My 1956 Motion picture almanac adds 50 on the parking for 500 cars.

The Corral was designed and built in 1949 by my grandfather, F.O. Hilligoss, who was known by his friends and family as “Hilly.” He was the sole proprietor of the theater from its opening in 1950 until his retirement in 1971.
