One opening day visitor to the Paradise noted in 1928 that if you hadn’t gotten to see a movie, the Paradise Theatre experience itself might have been worth it. Between the columns in the foyer – yes, the foyer – are murals, statutes, sculpture and intriguing light fixtures. The $5,000,000 theatre left an impression.

I am curious what your source is for the $5 million price tag? My understanding is that the cost was around $1.5 million, though I don’t know if that included the adjoining storefronts that were part of the project.
