The November 15, 1913, issue of The Moving Picture World had this item, which is probably about the Day Square Theatre:

“Mr. Louis D. Cohen is having erected at 282 Bennington street, East Boston, a photoplay theater, to cost $40,000. The plans were made by architect Nathan Douglas, and the theater is to be a first-class affair.”

The Day Square Theater in East Boston is listed as managed by Marget Theatres of Boston in the 1942-43 Motion Picture Almanac.

In both a 1918 and a 1921 Boston street directory, the Day Square Theater is listed at 284 Bennington Street, between Prescott St. and Curtis St.

The Day Square Theater is listed in the 1927 Film Daily Yearbook as having 800 seats.

Ed- yes, it takes time and patience to go through the BPD police reports- I only went half way. I also found a reference to the Rialto/Roslindale Theater in Roslindale, and the Fenway Theatre.

In the 1919 Boston Police report that Ed Findlay has found it says that the Mgr of the Day Square Theatre in E. Boston, Abraham Montague, requested that two persons be appointed as Special Police Officers at the theater, one of whom was himself!
