The Star Theatre was taken over by the Clifford Theatres/Star Theatres circuit in 1947, who merged into the Greater Union Cinemas chain and it was re-named Odeon Star Theatre. This is another Theatre that was Grand in its time…..i noted it closed in 59'…….so i must have been very young back then when my Mum & Dad as a Family travelled by car to see ‘The King And I’ I have vague memories of it…..but the Theatre was Grand!………….
