Opened by 1953, the Skyway Drive-In was showing plenty of westerns for the folks in Northern Tennessee. Located in Oneida, the Skyway Drive-In wasn’t far from the Kentucky state line, pulling residents from both states. It held 200 cars and like a lot of small-town theatres in the Volunteer State it was owned by Cherokee Amusements. It was later renamed Skyview Drive-In. It was closed in the 1980’s.

The Skyview was located on 132 Skyview Dr, Helenwood, TN 37755. The theater was still running in the early-1980s, but it was unknown if it was still running in the late-1980s due to a building that covered some of the theater’s traces. It had been already demolished by the 1997 aerial view.

A 1987 aerial not only shows the building, but also trucks and other items on the back of the property. What appears to be truck trailers are located on the back row of the drive-in next to the main entrance road.

The 1988 aerial shows the ticket booth has been removed. So, my guess is that the drive-in was closed by 1987.

Apart from its general shape and entrance road, the only potential trace of the drive-in remaining is the foundation of the ticket booth. Located on the opposite side of Skyview Drive from the south corner of Pappy’s Peddler Mall.
