The Central Hall was built in 1880. It was used by numerous travelling film showmen, including Arthur Cheetham and also it has been suggested but is unconfirmed John Codmore.
The hall was actually an assembly hall above the Market Hall and was eventually demolished to make way for the Tivoli Cinema, which was erected by Buckley Picture Houses Ltd. in 1925.
