Opened as the Willow Street Cinemas in the later-1990’s by Hoyts Cinemas. Seating was listed at 1,980. This nine screen cinema fell under the Regal banner in 2003 and became known as the Manchester 9 Cinemas. Regal closed the cinema on September 21, 2008.

Theater has closed and now has bingo hall, poker and Players Nightclub.
Before Hoyts took over this location in the late nineties, it was owned by Canad and had been around for a long time. I saw Return of the Jedi here in 1983 when it was only a four screen theater. In 1985 or so the building was renovated and the five additional, smaller screens were added. I can’t find any information about Canad — or when the theater originally opened anywhere, unfortunately.
