Opened in November 1979 as a six screen theater. In 1985 two more auditoriums were added to the west end of the building to make a total of eight screens. The theater was closed in 2005 by Regal Cinemas and sold to a church group. It was remodeled into a church.

An announcement of the planning to build the theater appeared in the May 21, 1978 issue of the Daily Olympian newspaper. The theater opened on Wednesday November 14, 1979.

Longtime Lacey Cinemas theater manager Melody Hale passed away on January 17, 2012 at the age of 66.

How did they expand it to an 8-plex, by dividing two of the larger auditoria or adding on to the building?

They physically added onto the right (west) side of the building, facing O'Blarney’s Tavern.
