This was the original Orpheum Theatre in Des Moines. Not to be confused with the former Empress/Pantages/Sherman/RKO Orpheum Theatre which was at 412 Eighth Street.

The original Des Moines Orpheum opened sometime in 1907. The January, 1908, issue of the advertising industry trade journal Printer’s Ink mentioned it, saying “…Des Moines has opened a new theater and a new department store. The theater is a vaudeville house, playing the Orpheum attractions, and is playing to capacity almost every night.”
From the early 1900s a nighttime postcard view of Eighth Street along with the Orpheum in Des Moines.
