First four screens opened on November 29th, 1996 and screens 5-8 opened on December 13th, 1996. Grand opening ads posted.
This theatre opened on December 13, 1996, as Famous Players Burlington 8. Its opening movies include Mars Attacks!, The Preacher’s Wife, Star Trek: First Contact, Space Jam, and 101 Dalmatians. Famous Players renamed it to SilverCity Burlington on November 29, 2002, after expanding to 12 screens. In 2010, Cineplex changed the Famous Players sign to a SilverCity one.
However by the time the Googlemobile passed it by, There is no “SilverCity” sign in front of the building, just “Famous Players”.
This opened as Famous Players 8 in 1996. An exact copy of the theatre was also built in Moncton,NB. Enlarged and renamed SilverCity in 2002.
