Located on the opposite side of the Catawba Mall as one of Hickory’s first-ever enclosed shopping center and the first in all of Catawba County, North Carolina.

Opened as a single screen theatre seating 700 under ABC Southeastern Theatres in the early-1970’s. By the mid-1970’s it was twinned and remained that way until it’s closing in the 1990’s when it was last operated under Cineplex Odeon Corporation.

This was one of ABC’s “Ultra Vision” theatres. Was last operated by Carmike.

This theatre also got a lot of the Disney product. I saw Disney’s THE BLACK HOLE when it played here first-run at this theatre.

The Terrace Theatre was one of several “Ultra Vision” theatres that ABC Theatres owned and operated throughout the state. There were “Ultra Vision” theatres in Charlotte, Asheville, Durham, Jacksonville, Fayetteville, Hickory, Gastonia, Raleigh, Greensboro, Burlington, and Winston-Salem.
