Cine El Dorado

Located in the inner city district of San Agustin, just to the south of the city center. Once an elegant part of the city, today it is a poor barrio. The Cine El Dorado was opened on 5th January 1929 with “Nantas”.

Designed in an Art Deco style (architect unknown), the name ‘El Dorado’ is vertically placed in stylised Art Deco stone letters above the entrance. On each side is a circular base-relief plaque featuring festive figures.

The Cine El Dorado was closed in 1967, and when seen in March 2007 was in use as a workshop. The building is listed as a Historic Landmark.
