The interior of “Peters & Co” Cafe, part of the Roxy complex. A direct connection between a cafe and cinema was very common in Australian country towns of the 20’s and 30’s when many immigrant Greeks were responsible for establishing both.
The cafe was extensively refurbished and refitted, officially reopened on the evening of 9 April 2011
The terrazzo floor, booths and many of the chairs are original and in excellent condition. Other fittings have been sourced from similar cafes of the era to ensure a lot of what is seen (and used) is authentic. (photograph Greg Punch)
