Located on Route 119 South (Morgantown Road), in the York Run section of Fairchance, to the south of Smithfield, PA. The York Run Open Air Theatre was opened July 7, 1948 with the western “Black Gold” starring Anthony Quinn. It was operated by Steve Danko, Danko, Sharp & Duncan and had a capacity for 300 cars.
Around 1950 it had been renamed Moonlite Drive-In, when it was still operated by Steve Danko with Co-operative Theatre Services. The located was now given as being in Smithfield PA, and the car capacity had increased to 350. In 1952 it was operated by Steve Danko, Danko, Sharpe & Dugan and Louis Hanna of Hanna Theatre Services, out of Pittsburgh, PA. In 1955 it had the same operators, but Hanna Theatre Services had been renamed Stearn-Hanna Co-Operative Theatre Services.
In the 1957 edition of Film Daily Yearbook it is listed as the Moonlight Open Air Theatre
