The Picture Palace was originally built as a silk mill. It was converted into a cinema in 1910. In the 1920’s it was re-named New Regal Cinema. In the 1930’s it came under the control of the J.F. Emery Circuit of Manchester.
The New Regal Cinema closed in 1964 and was converted into a nightclub, last known as XtremeStudio. The building is ‘For Sale’ in October 2016.

it was named the bug hut when I used to go in the 50s I seem to remember it was made into a night club come Casino in the 60s
Now for sale by Hallam Properties, the building is shown with new glazed corner, and potential as nightclub, bingo hall, gym, retail etc. October, 2016
