The Picture Palace was originally built as a silk mill. It was converted into a cinema in 1910. In the 1920’s it was re-named New Regal Cinema. In the 1930’s it came under the control of the J.F. Emery circuit of Manchester.
The New Regal Cinema closed in 1964 and was converted into a nightclub, today known as XtremeStudio.
