Central Cinema

Located in Blyth, Northumberland. Originally built in 1857 was a general purpose hall, it was gutted by fire on 19th January 1923. It was rebuilt and converted into the Central Cinema, which opened on 22nd December 1924. It was equipped with a Black 7 Howden 2Manual 22 stops organ.

It was taken over by the Newcastle based Essoldo chain in September 1945. The Central Cinema was closed on 8th January 1961, and it became a bingo club. In early-1974 it was purchased by a development company to re-develop Blyth town centre and was demolished later in 1974.
