Located in the town of Cottbus, south of Berlin and north of Dresden, in the state of Brandenburg, Germany. The Weltspiegel was built and opened as a cinema in October 1911 with seating provided for 519 in orchestra and balcony levels.

Closed in 2004, it stood deteriorating for many years. In 2013, it was refurbished and restored to the plans of architect Alexander Fehre, who also designed two additional screens, each seating 80, making it a 3-screen complex. The original auditorium retains much of the original decoration and has seating for 500 provided in orchestra and balcony levels. The re-opening in March 2013 featured the film “Pina” with the director Wim Wenders in attendance. There is also a 50-seat cafe located in the foyer area.
