Wellington Picture House

Located on Wellington Street close to Wellington Bridge Street. The Wellington Picture House was opened on 9th November 1920. Designed by Leeds based architect G. Fred Bowman, it had an attractive stone façade. Inside the auditorium seating was provided for 524 in the stalls and 169 in the circle.

The Wellington Picture House was closed on 5th November 1941, possibly due to war-time conditions or damage from German bombs. It never re-opened and has been demolished. I believe Napoleons Casino now stands on or near the site.
