Located in the north of the city centre. The Scala was originally a music hall which was screening films as part of the music hall programme by 1903.

It was modernised in 1936 to the plans of architect Maurice Gridaine and given an Art Deco style. It remained a large single screen cinema in 1975. By 1985 it had been converted into 5-screens. The Scala had closed by 1993, and remains unused in 2013.
