Opened in 1917, the Oakley sat over 900 and was located in what is today’s Ukrainian Village neighborhood.
The theater was destroyed as a result of a gas line explosion and the resulting fire in the summer of 1953. It was later replaced by a supermarket which also was destroyed by a fire, in the mid-1970s. A fast food restaurant currently stands on the site.
