Highway 501 Drive-In

The 501 Drive-In opened on June 2, 1951, featuring the 1951 drama “Blue Blood” with Jane Nigh, Bill Williams, Arthur Shields and Audrey Long. It was operated by Howard Andersen (Andersen Amusements). It featured a capacity of 202 cars with in-a-car speakers. It had parking spaces specifically reserved for black people.

I believe it closed in 1962. A restaurant is now at the location of the drive-in theatre. It is utilizing the same building that housed the concession stand and the projection booth. You can still see the second floor room above the restaurant that was the projection booth.
