From the Moving Picture World (Oct.-Dec. 1911): “William H. Murphy opened the Federal Theater, a new house, at 218 E. 61st street, last week and reports a nice business. Mr. Murphy is engaged in other business, but it is his intention to purchase a string of houses in case he makes a success of the Federal.”
