Picture House

Located in the Upper Gornal district of Sedgley, southwest of Wolverhampton. Built as a Drill Hall in the 1880’s. It was converted into the Picture House, opening around 1912. In 1936 a balcony was built in the auditorium, increasing the seating capacity to 631. It was operated as an independent cinema by Howard Darby.

The Picture House was closed on 2nd January 1960 with Peter Sellers in “The Mouse that Roared”. It was converted into a hardware/DIY shop and for many years has housed County Wallpapers shop.
