In Crossmaglen, County Armagh, the Cinema is listed in the 1948 Kine Year Book as being operated by H.B.E. Cinemas Ltd. of Belfast. According to the local library, the first film was “Arabian Nights”. A version of this story, starring Jon Hall and Maria Montez, was released in the UK in January 1943, but it is perhaps most likely that this cinema opened shortly after the war. (It is not listed in the 1947 Kine Year Book.) It closed in 1969 and has been demolished. Crossmaglen Community Centre now stands on the site.
