The architect of the United States Theatre was E.C.A. Bullock of New York City.
Listed in the 1951 FDY at 617 Washington Street with 1070 seats.
This was my dad’s favorite place when he was a kid. He often told me about the time in 1942 when his sister had to almost drag him home from the U.S. – he’d spent the entire day there watching James Cagney in “Yankee Doodle Dandy”.
Old photo. Marquee states “Closed Visit the Fabian"
Marquee also doesn’t spell out "United States”. It merely has “U.S.”

1943 edition – United States Theatre, 1,048 seats operated by Warner Bros. Circuit Management.
1950 edition – U.S. Theatre, 617 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ, seats 1,070 operated by Warner Bros. Circuit Management Corp. (Listed as the United States Theatre in the Circuit listings).
Thanks so much for the photo of the U.S., TC. It was my dad’s favorite place and I’d heard so much about it over the years, but never saw what it looked like until today.
