In Stroud, Gloucestershire, the Palace Cinema opened in 1913, a conversion of the Empire Theatre designed by architects Baylis Rulaen & Kiddle. It was part of the Albany Ward circuit, taken over in September 1927 by Provincial Cinematograph Theatres and then by Gaumont British. The Palace Cinema closed on 2nd February 1935. It was demolished and replaced by the Gaumont Palace.
